Anita Saarkessian

Anita Sarkeesian is a Canadian-American feminist media critic as well as a public speechwriter. Feminist Frequency was founded by Sarkeesian. It hosts video clips with commentary that analyze the representations of women that are prevalent in contemporary culture. Anita Sarkeesian a Canadian American media critic. Feminist Frequency, a web-based resource for education that examines women's roles in pop culture narratives was the result of her research. Additionally, she serves as the director of operations. In addition, she works to bring awareness to sexual harassment and assaults on women and as well as other minorities, she is dedicated to breaking the stereotypes prevalent in popular culture. Sarkeesian is also a graduate of York University master's in social, political and philosophical thought. In addition to being a well-known public speaker, she's given speeches at the TEDxWomen XOXO XOXO Conference and United Nations Broadband Working Group. At a young age, Sarkeesian was fascinated by issues of gender identity as well as feminist ideas. When she was still in school, in 2009 she started her Feminist Frequency Website. The determined lady had planned to launch a web series examining gender-based representations in video games and found herself the target of a harassment online campaign. It was not enough to deter her. In fact, it made her more committed as a feminist and media critic. In recognition of the many accomplishments she's made to feminist movements, she has been awarded numerous prizes. Anita Sarkeesian was a multi-award winner for her work as a journalist. She also serves as the director and founder of Feminist Frequency an educational non-profit organization that explores pop culture gender representations.
